Our History

A story of passion, timber, and the pursuit of timeless design.

Where It All Began

In 2014, in a modest garage in Johannesburg, South Africa, a passion for woodwork became something more. What started as a personal love for crafting with timber quickly grew into Gardenberry, a small furniture studio dedicated to creating pieces that were unmistakably handmade and full of character. Every table, chair, and shelf was shaped by hand, one at a time, with a deep respect for the raw beauty of natural wood.

From the very beginning, the philosophy was simple: build furniture that people connect with. Not mass-produced items from a factory line, but pieces with soul. Furniture that carries the marks of the craftsman who made it and the story of the timber it was born from. Word spread through Johannesburg's design community, and Gardenberry became known for furniture that was local, unique, and unmistakably gorgeous.

A New Chapter

By 2025, the brand had matured. The craft had sharpened, the designs had evolved, and the ambition had outgrown its name. It was time for a new identity, one that reflected the elegance and sophistication the furniture had come to represent. Gardenberry became BeigeBleu: a name that speaks to the warmth of natural materials and the cool confidence of modern design.

The rebrand was more than a new name. It marked a deliberate step onto the international stage. In 2025, BeigeBleu launched in Australia, bringing a decade of South African craftsmanship to a new audience of architects, interior designers, and homeowners who appreciate furniture that stands apart from the ordinary.

Made by Hand, Made to Last

Every BeigeBleu piece is handcrafted. There are no shortcuts and no assembly lines. Each joint is cut, each surface is planed, and each finish is applied with the patience and precision that only human hands can deliver. This is furniture you can feel. Run your fingers along the grain and you'll sense the hours of care that went into shaping it.

We work with carefully selected timbers, chosen for their character, durability, and the way they age. Our pieces are built to be lived with, to develop a patina that only gets richer over the years. When you bring a BeigeBleu piece into your space, you are not just buying furniture. You are investing in something that will outlast trends and become part of your home's story.

Design Without Compromise

BeigeBleu furniture lives at the intersection of art and function. Our designs are bold yet refined: pieces that command attention in a room without overwhelming it. Clean lines meet organic forms. Modern silhouettes are softened by the natural texture of timber. The result is furniture that feels both contemporary and timeless, as at home in a minimalist apartment as it is in a heritage-listed building.

Each collection is designed to be unique and artistic, drawing inspiration from urban architecture, coastal landscapes, and the honest beauty of raw materials. We do not follow trends. We create pieces that set them.
